Ladies fashion of the late 1900s

Fashion

Sheer Dress

Ladies fashion has always been affected by the time, more appropriately the decade in which it was present. The fashion of one decade could be just the opposite of the previous one. However, women have always taken particular attention as to keep themselves up-to-date with the current fashion trends of their times. Listed below are the major changes that took place in Ladies fashions in the late 1900s.

Ladies fashion1980s: this decade saw the advent of Rock music and not surprisingly, the music had a big effect on the clothing and fashion of women. There were two categories of women that could be made out from the fashion. One would be the fun loving, cute and energetic girl and the other look that women sport was more of that of a rebellious hardcore rocker chick. The pants had the same trend from the last decade- high on the waist, but now they were of the lightest imaginable shades of all times. These were generally accompanied by fingerless gloves which soon became a popular style sported by almost all the girls. Tees of your favourite band on the top was the trend and was considered cool. The big change however came in the shoes with the converse becoming popular. Different styles of converse shoes in various colours were the ‘in thing’. Socks and sandals also became a popular piece of fashion.

The hair on the other hand had just one code and that was being big. Thick and heavily sprayed to make it poofy was the fashion. But this was done to piss off your parents though! Makeup too was equally hardcore. Craziest colours in eye shadows with eyeliners being extended to the brow. This was the fashion of the 80s. Just one word to describe it- Rebellion.

1990s: this was the decade of punk rock. Everything reeked of it. Every style was dedicated to it. Converse shoes went all the way up to the knees and it was considered awesome! Polos started becoming popular and this decade saw the advent of white jeans. Bright neon colours were considered the coolest. Teenage girls were crazy about miniskirts made out of leather. These skirts were called tube skirts. The 90s is infamous for making the low-rise jeans popular. It was accepted as wild fire in the ladies’ fashion. One can never forget the craze around the leather jackets. Apart from converse shoes, Doc Martin’s boots became popular among women.

The hair was literally abused with colour. So many times, it was dyed and with so many, different shades that one probably forgot what the natural colour was. But the curly hair was done away with and the flattening iron or the straightener came out of the drawers. It was used by all and on a regular basis. The hair was cool only if it was big. The makeup had now become more natural. Earthy colours were more often used. The fashion in the 90s saw the women screaming only one motto all the time- Dare to be different.

The Grace of Silk Saris

For occasions of all sorts and for the ladies of all ages silk saris are the perfect attire.

There is a special elegance and charm about them and for festivals, occasions or for special day they have been the choice of Indian women.

Silk is obtained from an insect known as “silkworm”. However, nowadays pure silk saris are rarely available in the market because to cut down the cost, manufacturers started adding other materials to silk.  This slowly led to the degradation of silk.

There are several government run farms which keep the production of silk in check and these farms not only produce the silk but also manufacture the various products of the silk in the form of sarees and other attire.

In spite that the pure silk is much dearer than the other materials but the sizzling pure silk sarees are in demand and hence, back in fashion allover, now days. Wearing them reflects the ethnic and spell bounding culture of India. Besides that, the pure silk saris help in maintaining the standard of living among the people of various communities. The essence of silk can be felt from the person carrying it. Furthermore silk is available in different varieties all across the globe. In context of Indian culture silk has a special touch to it. South Indian silk saris are immensely popular throughout the country.

Pure silk saris come with the best designs, arts and styles. They are available in exuberant colors and forms. A little extraordinary work of glittering in the shape of zari border and zaal all over it, enhance the beauty of silk. These are specially worn for various special occasions such as weddings, parties, and festivals. Apart from this there are collections of Bridal Pure Silk Saris in the market, to make your D-day special. Also the various sub-categories in silk saris like Benares silk, Butter silk, Cot silk, Crepe silk, Garhwali, Jamavar silk, Jamdani Silk, Kanchipuram silk, Orissa silk, Patola silk, Raw silk, samu silk and south silk are easily available in the market.

To provide an aura of traditional look and to maintain an ever mounting popularity, the designers from India have strikingly adopted the traditions from Russia, China and Turkey. So, if you are looking for a stunning outfit, explore the Indian saris in markets to get an astounding look and feel. Saris are easily available in the market with the mind-boggling designs.

There is an option to customize the saris according to the customer’s demand of cost, designs and all other comfortable styles and fittings. The popularity of saris has reached new heights and as such the people from abroad who visit India prefer wearing them.

The beauty of this product lies in the fact that it is “evergreen” and is available in all ranges from cheap to highly expensive to accommodate customers as per their needs and capacity. 4 Fashion Essentials Every Girl Should Own

The Perfect Little Black Dress.

Every girl should have a little black dress; this is your go to dress when you have a hot date and want to make an impression, you don’t have the time to spend ages hunting for a new dress but this one has been worn before and worked wonders. Your LBD is also magnificent at concealing all the bits that need to be hidden and accentuating all your assets. So if you have a feeling you’re going to overdo it at Christmas, then you’re little black dress is just what you need

It is very easy to over wear your LBD, especially when you know that its a dress you dont have to make a lot of effort with because you’ve worn it before and received amazing reactions. For this reason its probabably best to invest in more than one, or maybe it’s time to update the one that you do have. Here are some that we love here at LG:

This gorgeous Oasis Drape Dress, is definitely LG’s definition of a perfect LBD, clings in all the right places and brings out your figure beautifully. The draped criss cross detail is beautiful and there’ll be no shivering with the long sleeves. Great for full figured ladies, because it highlights your curvaceousness but the black slims you at the same time. Accessories aren’t necessary but if you cant help yourself a single chunky gold bangle will do! £49.50

This Asos dress is great for boyish figures, it creates the illusion of a full bust, and curves, and at the same time shows off your slim petite frame!! £125

The perfect Pair of Jeans:

Jeans – something we wear everyday, high waisted with heels for an evening dressed up look, or skinny jeans with flats and an oversized tee for daytime. Then there’s the one pair that is just so perfectly comfortable you bought more than one pair and wear everyday. There are 6 main types of jean cuts:

1. Skinny Jean  2. Bootcut Jean  3. Straightleg Jean  4. Skinny flare Jean    5. Flared Jean  6. High waisted jean.

In our opinion Dorothy Perkins has one of the best range of Jeans on the highstreet as well as Topshop. Both are excellent for quality jeans at good prices. If you’re wardrobe is in need of some new jeans, here are a few that caught our eye:

You can always feel the quality in Dorothy Perkins Jeans and these Midwash Indigo jeans are no exception, it’s important to invest ina good pair of quality jeans so that they can last. There are a lot of cheapies on the highstreet, but there is no point if they fade an tear after one wash. These skinny Dottie P jeans are £25 and look pretty damn good too!

These black Topshop jeans are the kind of jeans you wear with everything. The nice slim fit elongate your legs and the black slims down the thighs. £38

The Perfect Pair of Flats.

Every girl has experienced that feeling when you are on a night out with your friends and all you can think about is getting home so you can take off your suffcating heels and give your poor tootsies a well deserved rub. Well here’s a little tip, before you go out pack a very slim compact pair of flats in your clutch. Then when you’re night is over you don’t have to tiptoe toe painfully back to your front door in agony.

Like these grey River Island ballarina pumps, these can easily be folded without runing the shoes and they are really cute too.

Flats can be used to brighten up a dull casual outfit, like this bright orange embellished ballarina pumps, also from River Island £25

Well, if you don’t have a date, no problem. You can sign up to UK Singles Dating site and find yourself a date, you then have a good reason to wear the dress :)

Jump Onto The Jumper Trend!!

You know when Autumn/Winter is approaching when all the shops in the high-street start filling their shelves and racks with jumpers, cardis and coats. The jumpers get us here at LG especially excited with

all the different styles and colours. There are so many ways to wear them, here are a few of LG’s faves and some tips on how you could wear them.

We absolutely adore this Mango stripped sweater, the black and grey stripes work really well as do the long sleeves. This should be worn casual smart, with a pair of black skinny jeans and flats, if you’re going out a sharp fitted black blazer will fit perfectly. if black on black isn’t really your thing why not pair with a nice  indigo or deep blue pair of jeans, then tone back done with some black kitten heels. This jumper could be dressed up for the evening with a pair of black wet look leggings, this will really accentuate the jumper, a big pair of statement gold earrings like a pair of chunky hoops with your hair scraped back will complete the look. Accessorize with some gold bangles or gold ring.

Wow this River Island Aztec jumper dress is definitely a statement piece, if you’re wanting to make a point then this dress does that. The bold black and white prints are loud and eye-catching drawing attention straight away. This should be worn with opaque tights and a pair of flats, either black for a more subtle look and white to make the ensemble even louder than it already is. If you’d prefer leggings then a nice black pair would go well, avoid patterned leggings though as the top is bold enough and you don’t want to make it too matchy.

This is a beautiful piece by Oasis, very versatile and can very much be worn in several different ways. Because it is quite a light jumper, it can be worn as part of a skirt or trouser suit, the material is thick so you would still get the warmth that you require. Very few jumpers can be worn with a skirt but this would look gorgeous with a maxi skirt accessorised with a belt and because white goes with any colour you can pretty much wear whatever colour skirt you’d like. For a relaxed casual day wear with your fave pair of jeans.

Here are LG we love pieces that can be worn during the day, and then transformed at night to look like a completely different outfit  like this New Look jumper, it definitely has that quality, it can be worn very casual but because it’s quite long it can be worn in the evening as a jumper dress, perhaps to a bar, to the colour is gorgeous and should be accessorised with a belt like in the picture, a thin belt over a blazer for a smart look to cinche your waist in, or a nice chunky belt to make a bold statement.

Let your legs do the talking….

So it’s too cold to go out bare legged, but we still want to wear our shorts, minis and dresses, so what can be done about this, the answer friends – tights!! You can dramatically change the look of an outfit just by throwing on a par of tights

Now they don’t have to be plain old tights, believe it or not they serve more purpose than just keeping you warm, the look hot too, they come in so many rockable designs, here are a few of LG’S faves.

This sexy pair of tights can be worn during the day, dressed down with some denim shorts, or can be worn as lingerie. We love how sheer they are and how the burlesque feel the give off!! The mock suspender style means you can have suspenders without all the fiddly clips and at just £14 there is no way it’s not becoming a new addition to LG’s wardrobe.

WOAH…..These traffic stopping tights scream, stop stare and have a good look at me, they are bold, loud and can instantly glam up any outfit. Definitely good for sexying up a sparkly metallic skirt or a black body con skirt. These 20 denier tights are extremely sheer, so be careful because they can easily rip and at £32 that’s the last thing you want.

You know how annoying it is when you pull up your tights and then get a big ladder in them, or walk past something that puts a ladder through your tights and you can wear them anymore. Well these tights have the sort of ladders you’ll actually like, clever and humorous and bloody sexy all at the same time!! Who knew tights could have so much personality. £12

Everybody knows that stars are in right now, whether it be tattoos, jewellery or tights, these tights are bang on trend and can be dressed down for daytime and back up for night. These superstar tights are £15

All these gorgeous tights are from mytights.com, and there are plenty more like the ones we’ve picked up. For all sorts of different occasions and looks!!

What To Know About Boots!!

So winter is finally upon us and it is that time when we swap our sandals and open toe heels for the comfort and beauty of boots. They keep our tootsies warm and snug and make us look fab, what’s not to love about the humble boot. There are so many different types of boots; here is a little break down of what you should consider when shopping for your next pair:

Flats: Flat boots that have basically no heel are mainly built for comfort, they don’t strain your feet, they are extremely warm on the inside and they usually come in tan, brown and black. Wear your flat boots on a casual day when you are just shopping, popping out for a coffee or perhaps taking your children out, because they are so comfortable you  will have no problem walking around in them all day.

Wear with: Skinny jeans or leggings and always tucked in.

Ankle boots: These are more suited for the office; they come in various different heel heights from flat, to kitten heel right through to your 5 incher.  If you’d prefer to wear a heel for work then make sure you ankle boot has a solid chunky heel, you do want a thin heel, it won’t support you as well and teetering around on your toes will  crush them and strain the soles of your feet. Ankle heels are best suited to bootleg cut trousers; the trousers should definitely cover the top of the boot.  Ankle boots can be worn casually, but are especially great for work.

Wear with: Bootleg trousers, knee length office skirt with tights.

Mid-length/knee high boots: These gorgeous style boots come in array of different styles, buckles, belts and buttons turn it from a simple boot to a show stopper. They come in different textures, suede another office fave, leather won’t let in an ounce of cold iand patent if you are in that extra fabulous mood. You can pretty much wear these tall boots with anything tuck your fave jeans or patterned leggings with a plain tee for a casual look. An office dress with coloured tights and your smart knee high boots definitely spells office chic.

Wear with: Dress and tights for a smarter look, jeans tucked in for tht casual feel.

One of the best things about boots, is that if well looked after they actually last a long time, invest in a quality pair of boots and there is no reason why you should be wearing the same next winter.
